ABOUT US

Thursday Island Pharmacy has been an integral part of the community since before 1970.

Mick and Luci brought the pharmacy in 2012 and our current pharmacists Carli and Caitlin have been apart of the business for the last 12 months but apart of the pharmacy and the community for much longer. With our pharmacists being members of the community we love, it helps to ensure we pass all of our passion for improved health care onto you the community.

As a remote community pharmacy, we have come a long way from where we started but we keep our past with us as we move forward. No matter how the pharmacy changes our stained-glass windows are still a distinguishing feature attracting numerous photos through our tourist season.

We would like to think we are more than a community pharmacy but a part of our community. From our continued sponsorship of sporting teams to try and encourage active and healthy lives, to encourage our youth to excel at science-based subjects through our Thursday Island Pharmacy Science excellence award which is presented at both Tagai State College and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School. There is also a commitment to our community to get them involved with us, we often hold kids markets outside the pharmacy where kids can be encouraged to make things to sell giving them a confidence boost, the other initiative we had was to design and create our own calico bags for the plastic bag ban. We managed to get 4 amazing bags designed and printed and these are for sale in the pharmacy, with all of the art being designed by members of our community.

As a pharmacy, we are continually trying to find ways to offer our community the best service and new products. Offering services like ear piercing, passport photos, vaccinations we are always on the lookout for new ideas to bring to our community. Our History

If you are lucky enough to visit us on Thursday Island (TI) then you are lucky enough to have met some of our wonderful staff. With years of pharmacy experience we can offer you advice in all areas from your babies, to vitamins to hair care, skin care and ear piercing.

Our pharmacists are committed to providing the best possible service to you and we are always looking for ways to upskill. With access to pharmacists who are home medication review accredited, diabetes educators, vaccination accredited, and have a genuine passion for improving health we are always here to help.
